Greetings and welcome to my online portfolio! I am currently a Towson University student studying Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources. I will be graduating spring 2020 with my bachelor’s degree. I attended Western Technology School of Environmental Science for my High school career (where I received my diploma).I achieved many accomplishments in my time at Western including graduating with honors, member t of the National Technical Honor Society, received best business student award in the state and received a 4.0 gpa in my senior year  graduating with a 3.7. During my last year of high school  (senior year) I started my first job with the Department of Defense specifically the National Security Agency. I was an office admin where I managed various aspects of the office including emails, phone, fax, conference room and calendar agendas. From there I worked at a childcare facility as a student teacher. I learned interpersonal skills, patience, problem-solving skills, creativity and time management. I really wanted to focus on finding a position that was in my field. My current job is with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) where I serve as an HR assistant intern. Here I receive hands on experience pertaining to the various aspects of HR specifically staffing and recruiting.

 

As a staffer (HR assistant) I have learned many vital skills including how to properly analyze and asses a resume to meet specified criteria from hiring managers. Because, I work in such a large agency there are thousands of employees and thousands of applicants. My job is to create vacancies that are to be posted on USAJOBS.gov where applicants can submit their applications. Once this task is complete, I verify they contain the eligibilities they selected and go through their resumes to see if they are qualified. My job is very important as I determine if someone will get an interview based of the information, they have presented in their application package.

 

All three jobs that I have held has given me the appropriate knowledge on how to obtain the necessary skills required for an HR representative.
